Independence Monument

After hiking (Hiking! I was on my crutches that day!) about a half-mile down Otto's Trail (named after John Otto, proponent and first caretaker of Colorado National Monument), we sat and waited nearly an hour for the clouds and the sun to line up just right. The clouds had to darken the background and foreground while the sun had to light the monolith. It was worth the wait and the walk.
